Batman Arkham Origins
It’s Friday which means it’s time for the end of week games industry news round up!

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed Copperhead as one of the eight assassins featured in Batman: Arkham Origins. The character was unveiled at Comic-Con International in San Diego at a panel for the game, which included WB Games Montréal Creative Director Eric Holmes, Armature Studios Game Director Mark Pacini, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, and actors Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker, the voices of Batman and The Joker, respectively. Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches, the final add-on pack for the critically-acclaimed first-person action game developed by Arkane Studios, will be available worldwide on August 13, 2013 (PS3 in Europe on August 14) for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC for £7.99 / €9.99 / AU$14.45 or 800 Microsoft Points. In The Brigmore Witches, continue your journey as the legendary assassin, Daud, and bring his twisted narrative that began with The Knife of Dunwall to a close. After discovering the identity and intentions of Delilah, the leader of the Brigmore Witch coven, you set out to disrupt her from completing a powerful ritual that will spell your doom. Additionally, your power, weapon and item upgrades, Chaos level, and player actions from The Knife of Dunwall will carry over via a compatible save file option.

TIGA, the network of game developers and digital publishers, said that more needed to be done to promote clusters of high technology businesses, including games businesses, across the UK. TIGA made the comments following the publication of a report which showed that more start-ups were established in London’s Silicon Roundabout than any other region in the UK. According to UHY Hacker Young, the accountancy firm, 15,720 new businesses were created in London Silicon Roundabout in the year ending March 2013.

An announcement will be made on Saturday revealing new DLC for Borderlands 2, according to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford. The date was confirmed when Pitchford was asked on Twitter if an announcement on upcoming DLC was coming soon. Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, released in June, was the fourth and final DLC campaign expansion announced as part of the Borderlands 2 season pass. However, Gearbox has already said that further DLC was in development but these won’t be covered by the season pass.

Angry Birds Star Wars has been announced for home consoles and handheld systems. Promising to deliver “over 25 hours” of gameplay, the updated release will feature new competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, plus 20 exclusive levels. It will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, Vita and 3DS on October 29, 2013 in the US and November 1 globally. The game originally launched on iOS devices in November 2012. Earlier this week, Rovio announced Angry Birds Star Wars 2 for iOS devices. The mobile sequel is based on the Star Wars prequel trilogy. In a first for the series, users will be able to “scan” characters directly into the game using a new line of over 30 collectable Telepods figures from Hasbro, similar to Skylanders. The sequel will be on the App Store September 19.
